Heritage Acres (Saanich Historical Artifacts Society)
Saanich Historical Artifacts Society (S.H.A.S.) is a volunteer society dedicated to the preservation of the past for the future. The Society is dedicated to collecting, restoring, housing, and demonstrating artifacts from Saanich's rural past. They have one of Western Canada’s largest collections of working steam engines, tractors, agricultural machinery, and household and industrial artifacts. On the property include the two-room 1913 Saanich schoolhouse, a replica log cabin from early settlers, a replica pioneer chapel, several scale model trains run by the Vancouver Island Model Engineers, a sawmill, planer's shed and blacksmith shop as well as other various buildings, tractors, steam engines and heritage farm equipment. Take a look at their newsletter the Sandhill Creek Reporter for updates and events as well as the calendar.
