Schooner Way Wastewater Treatment Plant

Located on Pender Island, the Schooner Way Wastewater Treatment Plant discharges secondary treated wastewater into Swanson Channel through a 198-metre outfall at a depth of 8 metres below sea level. Treated wastewater is monitored monthly for flow, total suspended solids, biochemical oxygen demand, fecal coliform bacteria and nutrients. The quality of the biosolids produced at this treatment plant is also monitored regularly.
