The Salt Spring Island Public Library welcomes families, residents, visitors, and travellers alike. Borrowing books is as easy as getting a library card and signing them out. The library hosts a number of programs for kids including "StoryTime" and "ToddlerTime" perfect for families with elementary school aged children or toddlers. The library also offers a weekly Writing Group for youth ages 10 – 14 led by local writer Kim Thompson as well as a Youth Book Club.
