Ganges Harbour Wastewater Treatment Plant

The Ganges Harbour Wastewater Treatment Plant discharges secondary treated and disinfected wastewater into Ganges Harbour through a 4.8-kilometre outfall at a depth of about 16 metres below sea level. Treated wastewater is monitored monthly for flow, total suspended solids, biochemical oxygen demand, fecal coliform bacteria and nutrients. The quality of the biosolids produced at this treatment plant is also monitored regularly. For more information, please see the Gulf Islands and Port Renfrew Wastewater and Marine Environment Program 2011 Annual Report.
