Cunningham Woods is a small 1-acre Douglas Fir forest area located inside ring road on the University of Victoria's campus grounds. The University planned to build on the site in 2000, but a lobbying campaign resulted in a freeze on development being placed on the area. In 2013, however, the University of Victoria reviews its campus plan, and that freeze on development could be lifted.
