The Central Branch is the main resource centre for the Library system and has many specialized collections and services, as well as an excellent general collection.

The Greater Victoria Public Library endeavours to grow with local communities to benefit present and future generations. The library system serves 10 municipalities in the Capital Regional District. A wide range of materials are available to borrow including books, DVDs, CDs, magazines, audiobooks, databases, encyclopedias and electronic resources. There are books and resources for all age groups and literacy levels including multicultural and Aboriginal materials.  Each branch hosts a variety of events and programs such as family storytime, computer classes, reading buddies, talks on various topics, and demonstrations.
