SṈIDȻEȽ (Gowlland-Tod Provincial Park)

SṈIDȻEȽ (Tod Inlet) is a rich and layered site, both culturally and ecologically. Located in the Coastal Douglas fir moist maritime biogeoclimatic zone, in the Nanaimo lowlands ecosection, SṈIDȻEȽ is surrounded by the lush forests of Gowlland-Tod Provincial Park, which was established in 1994 as a part of the Commonwealth Heritage Legacy Program. The SENCOŦEN name for the area is SṈIDȻEȽ (pronounced ‘sneed-kwuth’) which means “Place of the Blue Grouse”. Blue grouse is an indicator species; its presence told the W̱SÁNEĆ people that food resources were abundant in its chosen habitat.

Pepaken Hautw (Blossoming Place)

PEPÁḴEṈ HÁUTW̱, named by STOLȻEȽ (John Elliot, Tsartlip First Nation elder), is a plant nursery, garden, greenhouse, learning centre and gathering space dedicated to educating WELṈEW̱ Tribal School students, adults and other community members about native plants and food growing. Camosun College - Diversity Committee

Since 2006, Camosun's Diversity Advisory Committee has been bringing together members of Camosun's community for continuing dialogue and planning aimed at placing the College as a community that celebrates diversity, to ensure students and employees feel welcomed and valued. The committee promotes discussion, events/special projects, policy and program advising and education/training that will serve this purpose. 

Victoria Hindu Parishad And Cultural Center

The Victoria Hindu Parishad and Cultural Centre is an organization providing a focal point for inclusion and diversity through educational, social, cultural, charitable activities, and religious worship. They host public gathering at the temple almost every Saturday, open to people of all ages and backgrounds. One of the Centre’s organizers, Sridevi Divakarla says that everybody receives what they are looking for when they come to Saturday gatherings.
